Matthew A. C Newsome is the Director of the Scottish Tartans Museum in Franklin, NC. He is a Governor of the Scottish Tartans Authority, headquartered in Crieff, Scotland, and a member of the International Guild of Tartan Scholars (GTS). He has designed over twenty different tartans for individuals, families, and institutions, and is a sought after writer and speaker on the subject of tartan and traditional Scottish Highland Dress.
Newsome also is a Lay Ecclesial Minister in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte, serving as the Catholic campus minister at Western Carolina University. He is very proud to have been able to participate in this historic project, which incorporates both of his vocations.
His true vocation, however, is that of husband and father. He lives in the Appalachian mountains of rural western North Carolina with his wife, five children, and a small flock of free range hens.
